QUINN J. HAWSE | SOUND DESIGNER
ABOUT ME

Hey! My name is Quinn, I'm a Sound Designer and Mixing Engineer currently living in Calgary, Alberta. If I'm not in my studio mixing or creating sound effects, then I'll be either out snowboarding or somewhere enjoying a beer.
My interest in developing games stems back from when I was a kid, first discovering RPG Maker and then eventually moving on to The Unreal Development Kit (UDK). I spent many late nights learning about the different aspects of working in-engine, from importing your own FBX models from 3DS Max, to programming in Uscript trying to create my own game logic.
Throughout the last few years of high school my interests shifted more into music and pro audio. I decided to attend Okanagan College for the Audio Engineering and Music Production program. This course provided me with a good foundation of audio knowledge which allowed me to get a job as a full time sound technician in Calgary.
Shortly after starting my audio career I began seeking out opportunities to collaborate on both film and game projects whenever I could, focusing on areas like Foley, Ambience, SFX, and Implementation.
I've now been a professional mixing engineer for over 10 years and have had the opportunity to work in some of Canada's biggest venues and work with some incredible bands. I've also spent this time working as a sound designer for indie films and honing my skills within the world of game audio.
These days I spend most of my free time either within Pro Tools and FMOD working on various game projects or reading up on the latest game audio technology.
